LaGuardia Terminal B
“If I blindfolded someone and took them at 2 o’clock in the morning into the airport in Hong Kong and said, ‘Where do you think you are?’ They’d say, ‘This must be America. It’s a modern airport.’ If I took him blindfolded and took him into LaGuardia Airport in New York, you must think ‘I must be in some Third World country.’ I’m not joking.”
Later that same day, the Port Authority of NY/NJ announced they were fast-tracking the new terminal.
I worked on LaGuardia Airport Terminal B ($4.5b) from DD-CA. My responsibilities included detailing high end finishes, developing the vertical transportation, refining interior elevations, designing the check-in kiosks, structural and MEP coordination for both the core and the envelope.
Since opening, the new terminal has won numerous awards, including UNESCO’s Prix Versailles.
